This is the reason why we feel like junk food after partying
Party sales, drink one drink after another, it's time to go home and along the way begins to take possession of you a hungry hunger and a crazy desire to buy a hamburger in the next fast food you see. Or reheating the pizza that was left over dinner and "breakfast" before bed. But why do we only think of Greasy food after a night out? Why does a pasta dish always seem better to handle antiresaca than one of vegetables?
One of the explanations lies in the lack of sleep. This was the conclusion of a team of researchers from the University of Chicago. Apparently, when we sleep little, our bodies are activated hormones of satiety and appetite. So does the endocannabinoid system (the same one on which the active elements of cannabis act), increasing the desire to eat. Hence, our desire to put a McDonalds menu between our backs and shoulders at five o'clock in the morning, after having partied for several hours and others without sleeping.

But the dream is not the only factor that intervenes in our craving for junk food in this situation. The glasses that we consume during the night are also to blame, since alcohol dehydrates and inhibits antidiuretic hormone. That is why we urinate more when we drink, creating hypoglycemia in our body and losing minerals, sugars and salt. Which explains our desire to replenish these nutrients with a copious meal instead of a light one: let's be honest, nobody dies for a salad in the middle of a hangover.
Another study that researchers from the University of Pennsylvania carried out with mice, showed that there is a shared circuit in the brain that explains the relationship between alcohol and junk food: alcohol activates brain signals that tell the body to eat more.
So, is it a good idea to give the body what it asks of us?
Although that pizza, hamburger or pasta with cheese feels great after a cold night, the truth is that it is not the best option. Junk food can be as addictive as alcohol (hence its relationship), but it is also that it does not provide quality nutrients, which are precisely what our body needs after having lost them after drinking alcohol.
We need to take mineral salts, vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates to alleviate the hangover, that's why the fruit, the vegetables, the nuts, the rice, the pasta and the cereals (yes, these last three are integral), they will always be a better option than fast food.
