Moderna requests emergency approval to use the Covid-19 vaccine

The biotechnical company Moderna announced this Monday through a press release that the tests carried out on its vaccine against Covid-19 show that it is 94% effective. So you are requesting emergency approval to use doses before Christmas. Since it helps prevent the virus and is 100% safe to avoid severe cases of this condition.

The FDA will meet on December 17 to consider the petition. If approved, the company will prepare with 20 million doses to send them to all United States before the end of the year. And this is expected to vaccinate 10 million people, as the antidote requires to be given in 2 doses.

The company wants to manufacture 500 million doses

Moderna announced that they keep working to reach the number of 500 million or 1 billion dose in 2021. An amount that will be worldwide. This analysis they carried out was based on 196 cases from a phase 3 clinical trial. Ensuring that its efficacy was verified in all ages, races, ethnicities and genders.

The 196 coronavirus cases evaluated included 33 adults older than 65 years and 42 people of ethnic minorities.

In the first instance, the general director of Moderna, Stéphane Balance, believes that the vaccine will provide a powerful tool that can change the course of the pandemic. As it will help prevent serious illnesses, hospitalizations and deaths.

Even a new statement suggests that Moderna's antidote is the most advanced of all those that have been revealed.

The Oxford vaccine or the Modern one?

Shortly after Oxford University announced that it had developed a vaccine that creates strong signs of immunity, the Modern vaccine appeared. However, it remains to be seen in larger phase 3 trials whether the vaccines will prevent people from developing the virus. The first results are expected next week.

Despite this the BBC reported that the government from United Kingdom already ordered 100 million doses from the oxford vaccine, compared to others. Since he only ordered 40 million doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine and only 5 million doses of the modern vaccine.

These numbers are because the Oxford vaccine is expected to be cheaper and easier to distribute once it is approved.

For its part, the World Health Organization said that we did not have to panic about everything that is happening in the world right now. He assured that the goal of all companies and universities is to provide communities with hopeful results to stop the virus. And that all vaccines that demonstrate their effectiveness in phase 3 could be approved to help the world out of the pandemic.
