Detox plan! This is what you should do the day after a meal
December 26, 2019
Christmas takes its toll, and it is not only the pocket that suffers, but also our body that is not accustomed to making this type of excesses seasoned with changes in the schedule and sleep disturbances. After a Christmas meal it is not necessary to make a restrictive diet, in fact they are usually counterproductive, but yes you can compensate the calories ingested the day before and above all, you can feel better with a simple lifestyle and diet guidelines.
Drink a lot of water
Your body is working very hard to digest and burn all the calories you have ingested, in addition to trying to eliminate toxins from undesirable foods and deal with the heaviness, burning and swelling of Christmas excesses. Hydrating the body is essential after a meal and, if you don't feel like being in the bottle all day, you can opt for cleansing infusions such as boldo, horsetail, boldo, green tea or dandelion and of course take soups, consommés or vegetable or chicken broths that will comfort you and help you feel better and lighter.
Vitamin B to the rescue!
If you have spent with alcohol, something that is not difficult if we have appetizer, food and toast, it is best to increase the consumption of vitamin B the next day, either through vitamin supplements or through food. Why? Why When drinking alcohol excessively, the liver has to work as a piece and pulls its reserves of glutathione (among other antioxidants) to detoxify the body. Glutathione is essential for the assimilation of vitamin B12, that is, it is responsible for eliminating alcohol in the urine. In addition, alcohol consumption does not allow the storage of this vitamin so replacing it once we have committed the excess would be a good idea.
You can include in your diet vitamin B12 consuming foods such as yogurt, nutritional yeast, fortified vegetable milks, whole grains, clams … They will help you return your body to its usual state and relieve the symptoms of excessive alcohol consumption.
Vegetables and fiber as allies
After an excess of animal fat and protein, nothing is wrong to purify the body with a good dose of nutritious vegetables made lightly, such as steamed, or baked and even raw. Opt for green vegetables because they have excellent properties such as favoring weight control, have almost no calories and have folic acid, magnesium, potassium or vitamin C. Spinach, broccoli, artichoke or kale are a very good option to consume the day after a Christmas binge.
In addition to the fiber present in vegetables, the fruit is also going to help you purify the organism since it favors the elimination of toxins by the organism by facilitating intestinal transit. Always decide on the whole piece of fruit, instead of natural juices, which will take advantage of all the pulp fiber. The ideal fruits for after an excess are depuratives and antiox such as pineapple, papaya, raspberries, blueberries or orange.
Sleep what you need
Nor do you need to throw yourself the day sleeping, especially because you probably have obligations that prevent it but, as far as possible, try to rest and sleep the necessary hours the day after the Christmas celebrations, respecting your circadian rhythms and thus helping your hormones to balance. Remember that if you don't get enough sleep, the production of ghrelin (the appetite hormone) increases and the levels of leptin (the satiety hormone) decrease. Also not resting will increase your cortisol levels and will cause you to have cravings as unhealthy as sugar, something you should not try the day after a binge if you want to recover.
Do some exercise
Yes, we know, you are tired, with a headache and you do not feel like doing much, but we are not asking you to go for 2 hours of buzzing or spinning, the idea is to exercise moderately. Go for a walk, do some yoga or some stretching, a little light exercise will make you feel betterIt will even lift your mood as it favors the production of serotonin, the well-being hormone.
Take care, we all exceed some time, as long as it is not usual you can compensate for these excesses although they are not healthy at all. If you rest, have a good balanced breakfast, include vitamin B, lots of water and a little physical activity, you already have the keys to feeling better the day after a break. An example of a perfect breakfast for after a Christmas meal? Grilled eggs with spinach and mushrooms, sprinkle a tablespoon of nutritional yeast on top, a bowl of raspberries, nuts, blueberries and cinnamon with rice milk and an infusion of horsetail with green tea. Throughout the day you can have consomés and broths or infusions and for lunch and dinner it includes vegetables, legumes, nuts and light protein such as some baked fish or grilled chicken. Sign up these tips because even if you swear that it will not happen again, you might fall again and the one who warns is not a traitor!
