Demi Lovato breaks her silence and talks about physical self-acceptance

That Demi Lovato has had trouble accepting herself as she is, is something that she herself has been responsible for making clear. And that is precisely what he has done that many people feel identified with her. A couple of months ago he posted on his Instagram account a photo where he posed in a bikini, without retouching and showing his cellulite. A publication in which he took the opportunity to confess that until then, all the images we had seen of her they had some touch up to camouflage imperfections that he hated before and now he has learned to hug.

In July 2018, the singer suffered an overdose that led her to remain hospitalized. Since then he had not spoken to the press, but this week he broke his silence in an interview during an act of Teen Vogue magazine, where he has talked about insecurities about his body and how he has fought against them.

"In the last five years I have learned that it is not worth living unless you are doing it for yourself. If you are trying to be someone you are not, or trying to please others, it will not work." And this is something that the interpreter knows very well after years of doing fronts to eating disorders such as bulimia he suffered.

"He used to look at me in the mirror when I had a bad day and he said: 'I love my body, you are wonderfully done.' But I didn't really believe it," admits Demi. "Now I love the person I am at the moment. What I see in the mirror is someone who has overcome a lot. I've been through a lot and I see a fighter."

The 27-year-old singer wanted to convey her message and experience realistically, especially to the teenage girls, a particularly vulnerable group in terms of physical insecurities refers. "We hear about terms like body positive all the time, but being honest, I don't always feel positive about my body," he confessed. "I'm not going to lie telling myself that I have an amazing body. I just have to say that I'm healthy."

And that is precisely what matters. Bravo for her!
